La Roche-Posay
La Roche-Posay Tinted Mineral Face Sunscreen SPF 50
$39.95
· 50 mLWhy pharmacists picked this
Mineral sunscreens are the first pick in pregnancy because they sit on top of your skin instead of soaking in. The tint here is iron oxide, the same pigment used in foundation, and it blocks everyday visible light that UV filters miss, which is a big melasma trigger and hits deeper skin tones hardest. Titanium dioxide is the only sun filter in it though, and on its own it's weaker against the deeper UVA rays than zinc is, so reapplying matters.
Pros
- 40 minutes water and sweat resistant
- Tint matches most skin tones and evens out your skin color
- Absorbs quickly into skin
- Won't clog pores
- Fragrance free
Cons
- Titanium dioxide mainly protects against UVB rays (sunburn) but doesn't protect against all UVA rays (skin aging and wrinkles)
- Small bottle, fine for the face use but you'll run out quickly on the body
- May leave a white cast on very dark or black skin
- Unscented, so the natural smell is noticeable
